Mount a windows share automatically on boot.

There no point in having the same files in more the one location ( well may as a backup!?). So often you want to access your windows files from you fedora box.

Yes, you can map your drive each time, but it would be better if they automatically connected each time.

So here goes.

First install the SMBFS package, by :-
su
Password:
gedit /etc/fstab
mkdir /mnt/stuff

at the bottom of the file, add the following line

//192.168.1.100/stuff /mnt/stuff      cifs   username=gamblor,password=YourPass 0 0

Where The IP address is you windows box, stuff is the windows share, username is a window user with access to the share, and his Password.

To make this all take effect. Save your file and in the terminal type

mount -a

if you dont get an error all should have worked.

Look in the directory mnt/stuff and you should see all you windows files.
