How to access your windows files on fedora across the network.
If you like me, you have many systems connected over a network. Sooner or later you'll want to access a windows PC files and copy, upload and edit them.
I'll quickly show you the way I connect my Fedora PC to a windows system to access files on there.
First, click on places and select Connect to server.
This should pop up the connect to server box.
Select [b]Windows Share[/b] for the drop-down box, and fill in the IP address of the PC your connecting to (or DNS name if your using DNS). Add the sharename and user name (will be the windows username), like so...
you should be able to edit, delete, copy and add files to the drive as required.
and click on connect
If on a domain, enter the domain name (otherwise just leave as default), and then enter your windows password.
after a few seconds you windows share should open up.
